The Storm is a 2009 American science fiction disaster miniseries directed by Bradford May. Based on a previous teleplay by Matthew Chernov and David Rosiak, it was written by David Abramowitz and Dennis A. Pratt and revolves around a weather creation system developed by the Atmospheric Research Institute that threatens life on Earth when deployed by the military. However, while scientist Dr. Jonathan Kirk, Danni Wilson, and detectives Devon Williams and Stilman attempt to save the world, the former is hunted by hitmen. The first part of the film was broadcast on the NBC network July 26, 2009. The second part was broadcast on August 2, 2009.

Billionaire Robert Terrell "weather creation" technology at his Atmospheric Research Institute hurtle the planet towards destruction during a test run. Kirk Hafner steps forward to demand that the system be terminated. Realizing he's powerless to stop the project by himself, Hafner contacts news reporter Danni Nelson with plans to expose Terrell. Hafner quickly discovers the motives and loyalties of authorities are not in his favor.

Kirk Hafner desperately seeks to save the world from the potential devastation to be caused by billionaire Robert Terrell’s obsession with controlling the weather. The race against time begins as Hafner finds himself the target of Terrell’s band of henchmen. As weather conditions continue to worsen, Hafner turns to Detective Devon Williams to help him maneuver his way through Terrell’s deadly game. Together, the pair attempts to shut down the weather system with the hope of making it out alive.
